Secret outdoor adventures and activities

Although Lowell may be best known for its urban amenities and cultural attractions, it also provides an abundance of recreational opportunities to engage everyone from weekend warriors to rugged outdoor types.

Explore Lowell’s National Historical Park, offering self or guided walking tours of key City landmarks as well as outdoor activities.  In warmer months, take a canal boat tour through Lowell’s historic waterways, or for the more adventurous, try whitewater rafting on the Concord River or kayaking on the Merrimack.  The Riverwalk, easily accessible from downtown, is the perfect spot for a casual stroll, afternoon jog or day of fishing.  If you’re ready to break out your hiking boots or hop on your bike, the Lowell-Dracut-Tyngsboro State Forest offers 1,140 acres and miles of trails to explore.
