Guidelines

If you are planning on organizing an Art in City Hall show, please review these guidelines:

  1. Size and quantity: CASE has 7 easels (produced by UTEC) available for displaying work, as well as 3 pedestals with the following surface area dimensions: a) 9.5 x 9.5-inch, b) 10.5 x 10.5-inch, and c) 12 x 12-inch. If the exhibit requires more easels and pedestals than what is available, then the artist or organization must supply the proper number of easels or pedestals. The easels from CASE can accommodate pieces of various sizes but will not support pieces in a heavy frame.

  2. Works must:

    1. Be appropriate for viewers of all ages

    2. NOT contain commercial material or endorsement

    3. NOT contain religious material

    4. NOT contain political content

    5. NOT contain prices or price tags

  3. Artists may display: (artwork labels will be provided by CASE unless other arrangements have been made)

    1. Name

    2. Title of the piece

    3. Art medium

    4. Website/contact information

  4. Signage: Sponsoring organizations should supply CASE with a list of participating artists and artwork titles at least 2 weeks before the exhibit to allow time to generate and print signage. CASE will pay for signage in City Hall and will produce social media posts about the show.

  5. Show perimeters: Shows featuring a single artist are discouraged. Each show runs roughly from the first day to last business day of the month unless other arrangements have been made with CASE. A reception will be scheduled on a Tuesday at 5:30 PM for participating artists. City Hall can accommodate space for approximately 10 pieces. It is the exhibit organizer’s responsibility to organize artists and coordinate artwork drop off and pick up.

  6. Floor plan: Unless determined by CASE, the artwork will be showcased on the first floor. Depending on the size of the artwork, there is capacity for ten art pieces in total. The exact location of each art piece is flexible and can be determined on the set-up date. A CASE staff member will assist with the set-up, movement, and take-down of the art show.

To reserve a month, please contact Sophia Boucher at sboucher@lowellma.gov.
