Jack Kerouac Mural

Artist Name: Quest Nine (Kori Thomas)

Date Installed: October 2023 and Spring 2024

Lowell-born novelist Jack Kerouac is the highlighted feature of Quest Nine’s mural, which fills a 29’ x 66’ space on the former boiler house of the St. Jean Baptiste Church. Quest Nine used professional grade spray paint and outdoor latex paint to design this mural on the brick building. The polycrylic top coat protects the mural from UV discoloration and impacts from the New England weather.

Altogether, these features create a beautiful commemoration for author and poet Jack Kerouac, whose name continues to bear a strong presence in Lowell.

The mural project was produced by a collaboration between Quest Nine and the Jack Kerouac Foundation.
